Maria Juanita Mueller passed away on February 21, 2024. She was born on August 9, 1931 in Pomona, California to Arcelia and Joaquin Cabrera and was the second oldest of nine children. After attending St. Joseph Elementary School in Pomona and graduating from Sacred Heart High School in Los Angeles, Juanita lived and worked in San Francisco and Los Angeles for law firm Latham and Watkins. She met her future husband, Gordon, in 1962 through singles clubs at their respective parishes of Blessed Sacrament Church in Hollywood and St. Anthony Catholic Church in Long Beach. Juanita and Gordon fell in love and were married on February 23, 1963 at Blessed Sacrament Church. They initially lived in Long Beach where they started their family with children Angela and Jeff and later settled in Los Alamitos where they completed their family with the additions of children Kristine, Craig, and Dan. Juanita and Gordon became members of St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Los Alamitos in 1967 where they had been members ever since. Juanita is survived by her five children Angela Bermudez, Jeff Mueller, Kristine Stewart, Craig Mueller, and Dan Mueller along with her twelve grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Juanita was a very strong and mentally tough woman characterized by her unwavering prayer and dedication to her Catholic faith which she continually instilled in her children and those around her throughout her life. Juanita spent much of her spare time serving others in the community and spreading her faith through her actions and words by her involvement with the St. Hedwig parish, Precious Life Shelter, and other Catholic causes. Juanita’s faith and dedication will always be missed but will continue to be seen and remembered by the impact that her love had on those around her.
