Luanne Dee Ernsberger

Luanne Dee (Smith) Ernsberger 70, resident of Lakewood, CA, died October 23, 2023. She was born October 3rd, 1953, in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Floyd Smith and Wilma (Custer) Smith. Floyd and Wilma moved Luanne and her older sister Dixie to Lakewood, California when Luanne was about 3 years old, in pursuit of a warmer climate and job opportunities. Luanne attended Cleveland Elementary School, DeMille Junior High School, and Lakewood Senior High School, where she graduated in 1971. During high school, Luanne was active in Job’s Daughters Bethel 240 Bellflower, CA where she was installed as Honored Queen in May 1970. It was about this time that she met Rollin (Rollo) Ernsberger. They were married in February 1972. They had two boys, Ryan in 1976 and Adam in 1982. Luanne left her 11-year career at Farmers & Merchants Bank in 1982, where she was ultimately promoted to Vice President and Loan Officer. When Luanne left the bank, she began her encore career as a homemaker and later caregiver to Adam. She was active in the boys’ extra-curricular activities, serving as a parent helper in the classroom, team mom on many a baseball team, fundraising chairperson in Boy Scouts and later Eagle Scout Advisor to several young men. Luanne was a devoted wife and mother first, but a wonderful friend to many over the years. Always ensuring that everyone around her had what they needed, Luanne often overlooked her own needs.

Luanne is survived by her husband Rollo Ernsberger, sons Ryan and Adam Ernsberger, daughter-in-law Jennifer (Williams) Ernsberger (Ryan), grandchildren Andrew & Sarah Ernsberger, sister Dixie Milberg, nephew Dustin Milberg, and numerous cousins and great nephews.

She was pre-deceased by her parents Floyd & Wilma (Custer) Smith and niece Misty (Milberg) Thomas.

Services will be held Friday, November 10, 2023, at Luyben Dilday Mortuary – 5161 E Arbor Rd, Long Beach, CA with viewing from 10am – 1pm. Celebration of Life at 1pm. Graveside service 3pm at Forest Lawn Cypress – 4471 Lincoln Ave Cypress, CA. Reception with refreshments  immediately following at El Dorado Park Golf Course – 2400 N Studebaker Rd, Long Beach, CA.
