Louis was born January 21, 1937 in Slidell, Louisiana to Frank and Loretta (Terrance) Faciane. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 in support of the Korean War as part of the 44th Fighter Bomber Squadron. He returned home to Slidell, while on leave in 1957, to marry his childhood sweetheart the former Maxine Cooper. After his honorable discharge from the USAF in 1958, Louis and Maxine moved to Los Angeles where they lived and raised their four sons. Louis enjoyed a 45-year career in Southern California’s aerospace industry as an aircraft mechanic and welder. In the early 60’s he was employed by North American Aviation where he worked on the Apollo Command Module. In the evenings he taught welding to students at Los Angeles Trade Technical College. He retired in 2003 after 35 years managing Continental Airlines’ weld shop. Louis was also very creative. He fabricated all sorts of tools, parts and items for use on aircraft, even crafting personal use items for himself and friends. A passionate artist, he created a vast collection of art pieces using his welding skills. Most of all, Louis loved entertaining family and friends. He hosted parties and viewings for sporting events, even organizing group trips to watch his beloved Notre Dame football team! Louis Faciane was a loving father, husband, grandfather, uncle and friend to all.
Louis is survived by his wife Maxine, his four sons, Mario and his wife Lori, Kevin, Dwayne and his wife Michelle, Troy and his wife Lynn, his six grandchildren Alexander, Michael, Nicholas, Angela, Emma and Dominic.
