And now I’m glad I didn’t know

The way it all would end

The way it all would go

Our lives are better left to chance

I could have missed the pain

But I’d have had to miss the dance”

Dad passed away January 7, 2024, in his home in Norwalk.

Lorence was born on January 22, 1942, in Winslow, Arizona, to Niles Sr and Alma Carr.

He met Linda in Gardena at a church activity, and they married in the Los Angeles Temple on May 14, 1966. Their wedding date had to be moved up after Dad was drafted into the army. They lived in California, Texas, Arizona, Louisiana and Nevada during their 56 years of marriage, with 46 of them in the Norwalk house.

He followed in his father’s footsteps into the construction business. As project manager, he managed the construction of several notable projects. He co-managed with is father, the construction of the largest aircraft hangar in the world. He was also part of the Crystal Court at South Coast Plaza.

In addition to being an avid reader and chronicler of family history, he was one of the main caregivers for Linda the last two years of her life. He learned to cook (something other than breakfast), helped her to dress, kept track of her medicine, made her appointments, and took her to many of them. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Music and the Spoken Word and the occasional Western.

Question : Who is Niles Lorence Carr, Jr?

In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made in his name to the VA or  the Diabetes Association.

“Let me tell you a secret about a father's love
A secret that my daddy said was just between us
You see daddies don't just love their children every now and then
It's a love without end, amen
It's a love without end, amen”
