Lois Jean Stemmer

Lois Jean Stemmer (Moss) sadly passed away August 14, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was born on December 15, 1929, in Chicago, Illinois to Frederick Moss and Mary Carin (Anderson), the youngest daughter, with three sisters and one brother, synchronistic with her own eventual family. She graduated from Calumet High School and Little Company of Mary School of Nursing in Chicago.
She met the love of her life, Edward, at the University of Chicago Clinics, where she was a pediatric nurse and he was an intern. They married in 1954 and soon had four daughters and one son. She was an attentive, involved and devoted mother. Once her children were grown, she decided to pursue tap dancing, a childhood dream of hers, dancing in many local performances. She loved old time Hollywood song and dance movies, music including 80s pop, and she was also an avid and talented crafter.
She adored babies and children, had a wonderful zest for life and will be remembered for her ever-cheerful disposition, lilting friendly voice, unparalleled generosity and incomparable strength. She will be so very missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward A. Stemmer, MD, her four siblings and her dear son-in-law Bryan Morrett. She is survived by her five children, Susan Stemmer, Linda Crisafulli (Robert), Paul Stemmer MD (Veronica), Nancy Pacheco (Keith) and Carol Morrett. Her legacy also includes eleven grandchildren: Kyle (Tiffany) Hildebrand, Robert, Matthew (Shannon) and Peter (Victor) Crisafulli; Kristen Blake (Timothy) and Edward Stemmer II (Ashia); Tony Pacheco and Amanda Kennedy (Kevin); and Katherine Kloberdanz (Andrew), Zachary and Michael Morrett as well as six great-grandchildren: Hunter and Mason Hildebrand, Mia and Zoe Crisafulli and Kate and Ellie Kennedy. Her family was a great source of joy to her.
Private services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery with burial alongside her late husband Edward.
