Livingston August Sissac, Sr., our beloved son, brother, husband, father and grandfather "Poppa", was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 3,1928 to parents Lionel Joseph Sissac, Sr. and Pauline (Broyard) Sissac. Livingston or "Liv" was the tenth child out of thirteen children born to Lionel and Pauline.

Liv left school in the third grade and learned carpentry from his father who worked in construction.  In 1948, Liv voluntarily enlisted in the U.S. Army to help support his family after his father died. Liv was deployed to the Korean conflict in 1950 and experienced combat for two years as the team leader of a 75mm recoilless artillery squad.  His proudest moment was rescuing his platoon from a sniper attack and receiving a battlefield promotion to sergeant before being honorable discharged.

In 1950, Liv and  Geraldine Barbara Smyer married in New Orleans, Louisiana.  After returning from the Korean conflict, Liv worked for Cyclone Fence Company where he earned a position with the Operating Engineers Union  .In 1961, Liv, Gerry, and Livingston Jr. (Boobie) followed Cyclone Fence Company and relocated to Los Angeles, California.  Liv left Cyclone Fence Company in 1980 and went to work for General Inspections Laboratory until he retired in 1993.

Sissac, Sr. (Alicia), four grandchildren Martin J. Sissac, Jr., Alexis M. Sissac, Michael J. Sissac, and Amanda M. Sissac.
