Born on June 26, 1985 to MaryAnn (Hartman) Shepard and Ronald Hartman, the long-time Lakewood resident passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 23, 2021 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Lisa was characterized by a godly care and compassion for people no matter their status in life. Her faith in Jesus empowered her to have inner joy that radiated to all she came in contact with. She was a loved and respected middle school teacher at Newcomb Academy in Long Beach where her students felt her kindness and guidance in both academics and their character development. Her time was freely given between family, friends and church ministries. Lisa’s professional excellence was illustrated by her bachelor of science, teaching credential and master’s degree from UCI. From a young age until college she, as well as her family, was very active in volleyball. In later years she took her volleyball skill set to Newcomb Academy where she served as a coach. By the grace of God and an answered prayer Lisa and Kendrick met while country line dancing. They were blessed to spend 7 years together as husband and wife enjoying shared pursuits of faith, travel, and food.
She is survived by her loving family including her devoted husband Kendrick, Lisa’s loving parents, MaryAnn Shepard and husband Rich, Ronald Hartman and wife Annette, sister Pamela Hartman Beyer, husband David and nephew Chandler, niece Lydia Bishop and her parents Jared and Betty.
Lisa will be laid to rest privately in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress. There will be a public memorial service at Compass Bible Church Huntington Beach on January 15, 2022 at 10:00 a.m., where she was an active and faithful member. If unable to attend in person the service can be viewed at www.compasshb.com/live
