Larry L. Luckey was born on July 8, 1945 in Detroit Michigan and moved to Southern California with his family at a young age. He grew up in West Los Angeles with his Mother, Anna and Father, George who ran a 13 stool cafe, “Luckey Cafe”. They made the best hamburgers in the world. They lived behind the restaurant and Luckey went to Catholic Elementary Schools in the area and attended St. Bernards Catholic High School in Playa Del Rey. After High School Luck attended Santa Monica City College and then on to California State University Long Beach where he earned a BA and an MBA. He was in the National Guard for 6 years and as with everyone in his life he made close friends with many of the men and would frequently keep in touch. He worked as a commercial banker for most of his career and was the president of Pacific National Bank. After being sick in 2015 Luck made a decision to reach out to old colleagues and friends. Luck always loved people, many of his friends today are from the banking family that were so close to him during his career. He stayed in contact with friends from school and work, meeting for lunch and going on outings.  He started attending classes at Cal State Long Beach in the Olli program and soon found another group of friends that he became close to and shared many ideas and life experiences. Some of Luck’s favorite things in live were: Movies, George M. Cohan Music, Janice Joplin, Friends, Anything Family, Faith, Perry Mason Reruns, Football, Coca Cola, Popcorn and Peyton (His Dog).  Luckey’s greatest love and accomplishment was his family. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pam, son Tyler (Christy), daughter Tessa and 5 grandchildren Sydney, Brody, Austin, Piper and Brooklyn.

It is with broken hearts we say goodbye to one of the best men ever to be.  Whether you know him as Larry, Luck, Luckey, Dad or Pappy- you know he has lived his life exactly how he wanted.  Full of love for his family and friends.

As you are aware, the Luckey family lost a very dear man Larry Luckey.  In lieu of flowers, Luckey would have loved donations in his name to help a student at St. Anthony High School.  We have an amazing opportunity to make a difference in a student's life by donating to this great cause.  Please click on the link below and choose "Larry Luckey Scholarship" to donate.
