Beloved Daughter, Sister, Aunt, and Friend Laurie Ann Tyo
Laurie Ann Tyo died peacefully on October 2 nd , 2021, in Irvine, CA at the age of 54. She was in the presence of her loving and favorite brother, Matthew.
Laurie is survived by her siblings Bobby of John’s Creek, Georgia, Jenny (Skelton) of Fort Smith Arkansas, and Matthew of Peoria, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary, and her father, Robert of Los Alamitos California.
Laurie was born on March 9, 1967, in Los Angeles, California to Robert and Rosemary Tyo. She graduated Los Alamitos High School in 1985 and received her Associates degree in 1988 from Cypress College. She began her career early in life, working for Disneyland starting in 1985 and continued working there for 28 years, until 2013. She was dedicated, diligent, and a hard worker. She was greatly loved by her many, many coworkers and friends. She moved around to various residences with friends in the Orange County area, until finally settling down with family again in Huntington Beach, California. Her joys in life consisted of travel, drives along the beach, Starbucks, and Star Trek Conventions. She was a true Trekkie and loved all of the versions that came out (even Deep Space 9)! But her truest joy came with spending time with her favorite nephew, John. She loved showering him with love, attention, gifts, and trips to both of their favorite place. That’s right…Disneyland, of course. He will remember her as a kind and gentle Aunt, who encouraged him to pursue his goals
Laurie was an active and dedicated member of the Catholic Church and attended Mass regularly. She was also the enduring daughter of her father, and the 2 of them shared a special bond. After the death of her mother in 2004, she spent her time caring and being a companion with him. They enjoyed their time travelling, hanging out, and having lunch together. They can now continue this tradition, along with her mother, in the peace and joyful presence of our Holy Father.
