Kathryn Louise Miller
February 5, 1930 — June 3, 2017
Kathryn Louise Hawkes, primarily went by "Kitty", was born February 5, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan. She and her family then moved to South Gate, California in 1932, where she spent the majority of her childhood. Kitty and her family moved to Paradise, California, her senior year of high school. Kitty moved back to Southern California after she graduated, and married Joseph Dale Miller on May 29, 1954. Dale and Kitty were married for 63 years, before Kitty passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the age of 87, shortly after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Dale and Kitty made their home in Paramount, California for 15 years until the 105 Freeway was built and they were bought out. They then moved to their current home in Downey, California, in 1970. They had their son, David Joseph on November 24, 1955, and their daughter, Debi Sue, on January 27, 1957.
Kitty enjoyed playing volleyball with her girlfriends in her younger years, and then traveling in the motorhome with her husband, friends, and family, and playing golf every other day. Kitty greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
Kitty is survived by her husband, Dale; children, David of Downey, CA, and Debi of Long Beach, CA; grandchildren, Kelsey (Marc) Strahm, of West Fargo, ND, and Kyle (Tess) Thormodsgaard of Los Angeles, CA; and great-grandchildren, Brody, Ryley, and Colby Strahm, of West Fargo, ND.
