Julia, known as “Jewl” to those close to her, was born on April 14, 1929 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Her parents were Louise and Charles Fidel and her siblings were Dhelia, Silvia, and Joseph Fidel. She met her husband Frank in 1950 while he was working on the pike when she stole a milkshake from him. They were married three months later on June 26, 1950. Frank and Julia opened a very successful taco stand in Compton, California that survived the Watts riots due to their kindness toward the community. Together they had one son, Nick and a daughter-in-law Joi, who blessed her with three beautiful grandchildren Victoria, Nicole, and Frank. After retirement, Julia focused on her family and helped care for and spoil her grandchildren. On her days off you could find her at a bingo hall or racetrack. During her stay at Valley View Gardens Jewl was a delight to all that encountered her. She danced, sang, and had many friends. She always had a great sense of humor and was extremely sharp. She spent her last moth there as Valley View Garden’s Silver Star/Resident of the Month just for being her amazing self. In her final days she was surrounded by her loved ones, thanks to Joi, Nick, Frank, Carla, her grandchildren and many other visitors she went to heaven happily. She is and always will be loved and missed.
