Judith (Judy) Mary Buberl, 82, departed this life for eternal life on October 10 at her home in Long Beach surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born March 7, 1937 in Omaha, Nebraska – the first of six children born to William and Helen Carney. The family moved to San Bernardino, CA in 1942 where Judy completed her primary and secondary education at St Bernardine’s Catholic School. She met her future husband, Paul Buberl, at a school mixer while attending Immaculate Heart College in Los Angeles. She earned her degree and began teaching at Providence High School in Burbank. Paul and Judy were married in 1960, started their family, and moved to Long Beach in 1965. Judy loved being a mother, homemaker, and Bible Study leader, and was known for her exceptional homemade jams and pies. Some of her many interests included cooking, hosting parties, reading, sewing, and playing games. She volunteered her time and talents at her church and her children’s schools and was always encouraging others to a deeper understanding and faith in our Lord.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters (Sharon and Mary), and her son (Matthias). She is survived by Paul, her husband of 59 years, their children Mark, Eva Marie, and Melia, seven grandchildren, two sisters (Patty and Chris), and her brother (Billy).
We will always remember Judy as a kind and loving mother whose greatest gift to us was teaching us not just how to live a godly life on earth but also how to live life eternal with the Father in heaven. She will remain forever in our hearts.
The funeral will be held at Our Lady of Refuge on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m., followed by a rosary at 10 a.m., and a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be held at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange on Monday, October 21 st at 1 p.m.
