John Michael Centanni

John Michael Centanni, age 87, died peacefully at home in Lakewood, California, on Thursday, August 3, 2017.
John was born on December 21, 1929 in Troy, NY and moved to California in 1956 where he met his future wife, Dona Weidenkopf. They were married in 1959 and went on to have 8 children. John worked for himself for most of his career as a general contractor and as a carpenter for the LBUSD for 9 years.
John is survived by his wife, Dona; their 3 sons, Steven (Tammy), Christopher (Kathryn), and Robert (Loida); their 5 daughters Kathleen Trimble, Jennifer Coy, Laura Centanni (John Denton), Elizabeth Young (Shannon) and Carrie Pierce (Patrick); their 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ana Centanni; and his 8 siblings, Joseph, Clarence, Mary, Michael, Margaret, Helen, Charlie and Rita.
A rosary and viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 16, at 7:00 pm at the Luyben Dilday Mortuary at 5161 Arbor Road, Long Beach, CA 90808. A funeral is scheduled for 10:30 am on Thursday, August 17, at St. Maria Goretti Church at 3950 Palo Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808.
Friends and relatives are welcome to attend the service, with a reception to follow from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Skylinks Long Beach Golf Club at 4800 E Wardlow Rd, Long Beach, CA 90808.
