Lifetime Long Beach resident Joan Rae Johnson took possession of her forever mansion in heaven May 2, 2026. Brought into this world October 28, 1930, at the former Seaside Hospital, she is survived by her three “boys,” James Harvey Jr.(IV), Craig Michael, and Todd Joseph, their wives, seven grandchildren, and seven (soon-to-be eight!) great grandchildren, loving family, friends and neighbors. Joan was a dear mother and “nana” to her family, passing away at the family home (the only home we ever knew), the last original owner of the east side tract built in 1954. She was proceeded in death by mother Helen Louise Adkisson “Nan,” father Rex Herron, and was the dutiful, devoted wife to late husband James Harvey Johnson Jr.
Her family and friends mourn her passing, but take solace in knowing she is finished with the pain and discomfort she suffered her last year with us. A memorial and celebration of her life with take place at Soundhouse Church in Long Beach July 11.
