Jeanne Katherine (Berg) Robinett
Jeanne K. (Berg) Robinett was born to Theodore and Mary Weston Berg on December 8, 1930 in Huntington Park, CA, and passed away just after her 86th birthday on December 12, 2016. Jeanne was raised in Lynwood, California, where she graduated from Lynwood High school and Compton College. She was a resident of Lakewood for almost 60 years, where she and her husband Clyde proudly raised their 7 children. She was very active in her children’s lives, and supported them in all of their activities, including serving as a PTA President and Board Member for countless years at Riley Elementary, Hoover Jr. High and Lakewood High School. Jeanne was very involved in her children’s Scouting, where she was a Cub Scout Den Leader for her 5 sons who became Eagle Scouts, and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader for her two daughters who earned the First Class rank. She was also supportive of her husband Clyde, who served as a Scoutmaster for many years for Troop 209 in Lakewood. Jeanne could be found cheering on her sons at all of their sporting events, including swim meets, water polo and baseball games, and participating in just about every other sport or activity that would allow her to spend more time with her children. Jeanne had a very strong faith in God, and was an active member of North Long Beach Community Presbyterian Church for over 50 years. Along the way, she made countless lifelong friends, and shared many great memories with them. She had a knack for meeting new people and putting them at ease, and getting them to share their life stories. Jeanne and Clyde owned Sanitary Plumbing Company in Long Beach for 20 years, where she served as Financial Secretary. Her passion in life was first and foremost her family, followed by attending Dodger games as a season ticket holder, taking her children and grandchildren to every major-league baseball stadium in the country, crossword puzzles, painting and ceramics, going to Disneyland with her family, and collecting Hummel figurines.
Jeanne will be deeply missed by those who knew her and loved her, and she will forever be remembered for her love and never-ending support to her family. She is survived by 6 of her children and their spouses Gary Robinett (Susan), Michael Robinett, Tamara Wold (Lonnie), Christopher Robinett, Colleen Myers (Brian), and Timothy Robinett (Erica), daughter-in-law Lisa Schnablegger, 16 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by her beloved husband Clyde, her son James, her mother and stepfather, Mary and Robert Rutter and her Aunt Arleen Neuhs.
A Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Luyben Dilday Mortuary on Wednesday, December 21sth at 2 pm, 5161 E. Arbor Road, Long Beach. Memorial donations may be made to Compassus Hospice at 377 E. Chapman, Suite 280, Placentia, CA 92870 or your favorite charity.
