Jean Esther McDonald Earnshaw

February 4, 1920-April 3, 2018

Born in Dubois, PA to Fleda and Robert McDonald; Jean Esther was the eldest of 7 children.
After graduating from St. Catherine’s HS in Dubois; Jean enlisted in the Women’s Army Corp serving as staff sergeant during WWII where she met and married her husband Howard who was also stationed there at the time.
After being discharged, they settled in Long Beach, CA to raise their family of 5 children.
Jean spent many years as a volunteer with the Long Beach Symphony and Community Playhouse. She also volunteered at Millers Children’s Hospital as well as the Veterans Hospital.
She was a long time parishioner of Our Lady of Refuge and enjoyed participating in church luncheons, WAC functions and her crochet group.
She is survived by her sister Nancy and brother Pat.
She is also survived by her 5 children; Barbara Johnson (Tom), Dale (Pat), Duane, Neil (Nancy), Bette Roland; her grandchildren Melissa, Shelly Earnshaw-Brossard (Kevin), Nicole and Zachary Roland
Jean also had 5 great grandchildren; Elijah and Cameron Gravett, Jacob and Cody Brossard, and Leilani Roland

Jean was preceded in death by her husband Howard; Sisters Mary, Maxine and Josephine and Brother Robert

Memorial services will be held on Friday April 13, 2018 at Our Lady of Refuge at 1:00 pm
