JANICE YOUNG

Devoted Mother, Creator, and Friend

Janice Kuipers Young, 75, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026. Born in Everett, Washington, she was the second of seven children born to Ivan and Shirley Kuipers. Her early years were spent in California, where she attended the Christian Reformed Church and developed friendships that would last a lifetime.

Through the Worldwide Church of God, Janice found a deep faith that would guide her throughout her life. She attended Imperial Schools from an early age, where she forged many cherished friendships. She went on to attend Ambassador College, where she not only pursued her studies but also embraced the joy of learning. It was through this community of faith that she met her future husband, Michael Young. They were married in 1972 and shortly after began their life together, eventually settling in Oregon and California.

Janice possessed a remarkable creative spirit. She found joy and expression through gardening, sewing, knitting, photography, and painting. Her hobbies brought her immense fulfillment and allowed her to create beauty in all that she undertook.

Beyond her creative pursuits, Janice was deeply devoted to service. She volunteered faithfully in her local church and dedicated many years to working in administrative roles in education. She worked at Long Beach City College and California State University, Long Beach, where she became known for her warmth, dedication, and genuine care for those around her. She continued to serve her community with the same spirit of giving that defined her character throughout her life.

Janice is survived by five children and five grandchildren, as well as countless lives she touched through her kindness and creative spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael Young.

Her legacy is one of love, creativity, and service - a life fully lived in devotion to her faith, her family, and her community. She will be deeply missed.
