Janet Ann Mabire Memorial Video Biography of Janet Ann Mabire's life 1-30-1933 through December 2nd, 2014

Our Mom, Janet Ann Mabire was born on January 30th, 1933 in Washington DC to her parents, Malcolm V. Irvin & Marguerite Irvin. Janet was the eldest of three girls, Audrey & Lois.

Janet started school in Baltimore Maryland, then onto Notre Dame College. Janet was an accomplished pianist & vocalist very young and continued on into her adult years.

After graduating Notre Dame College she started her first job in Washington DC at the State House. She then met Joseph W. Mabire while he was graduating Maryland University.

Joseph & Janet courted for a respectable amount of time and married in Washington DC on April 16, 1955 Mr. & Mrs. Joseph W. Mabire. Our Father, Joseph was an architect and designed & had built their first home in E.Lansing, Michigan.

On March 3rd, 1956 their first daughter was born Catherine Ann Mabire they were very happy. Then not soon after their second daughter was born Rebecca Marie Mabire on August 25, 1957.

In 1961 our Father was offered a job at Rockwell in Downey, Ca with the Apollo Space program. So the whole family packed up & took the train to California. Our family first resided in East Los Angeles. Mom would take us to the theater, ballets & started to teach Catherine how to read music to play the piano. Catherine attended 1st grade Santa Isabella Catholic School. Mom got us involved in many things, music, gymnastics, horse back riding, camp fire girls, ice skating, etc.

In 1962 the whole family moved again closer to our Father's job location at the Montair Park Apartments in Long Beach, California. Both Catherine & Rebecca attended St Cyprian's grammar School in Long Beach, California.

In the summer of 1969 our Father & Mother purchased their second home in Cerritos, California a brand new area that was developing. Our Mom, Janet started working at Rockwell Space Program along with my father as a secretary.

In 1973 our Mom, Janet continue her career working for the Federal Government & got a job at the Veteran's Hospital in Long Beach, California. In 2003 at the age of 70 year old Mom retired from the VA Hospital as the Executive assistant to the Chief of Staff. During her time spent at the VA she made many friends that she still maintained relationships with till the time she passed away 12-2-2014.

From the age of 70 to her passing, the things she enjoyed the most were entertaining, spending time with her lady friends, shopping and going out to eat and enjoying her loving doggie companion, Cutie Pie, who was attached to her hip..............oh did she love that dog and Cutie Pie is and was a very loyal pet (best feed dog in Cerritos).

She was a very giving woman, so many times she would cook when she felt up to it and fed all her lady friends in the neighborhood. She loved Christmas time and most years started Christmas shopping in January for the next year. Our Mom was a very independent strong woman; she taught her daughters many good life skills to be successful at anything they attempted in life. Our Mom was a loyal wife to our Father until his death April 23rd, 1995. Our Mom never married after our Father's passing. Mom didn't pull any punches; she said it like it was, she was direct and to the point. It was her desire to spend her last remaining years, enjoying her life, her daughters and her dog Cutie Pie. Our mother was a very giving woman and she treasured her friends. She was always willing to share and help out the people that she loved and cared for the most.

Christmas was her favorite time of year. In fact the day she passed away, she had been wrapping Christmas presents, sending out cards to her friends & family.

My sister Becky & I Catherine want to thank everyone who made a special mark in our Mom's life in in ours. We love her & will miss her deeply.
