Janet Ann Grover

Janet “Ann” Grover was born June 12, 1932 and died on October 29, 2024. She was the daughter of Dorothy Bennett and Fairest “Pat” Milligan.  Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, she passed away peacefully at her home with her husband by her side. She lived 92 beautiful years. She is survived by her husband Douglas, 3 sons Greg, Jeff and Loren, 6 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was born in San Francisco, California and lived a period of time in Seattle, Washington, and Phoenix, Arizona before settling in Long Beach, California. She attended Saint Anthony Elementary and graduated class of 1950 from Long Beach Poly High School. Her 2 oldest sons were from her first marriage to Dan Donahue. Her 3rd son was from her husband Doug of 57 years.

She was an active member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Lakewood, CA. She had a few different careers including a licensed home for children where the children often called her “Mommy Ann.” She later worked at Paramount General Hospital and Renzi Clothing Company. Initially by herself, and later with the assistance of her second husband, she put her 3 boys through St. Pancratius Elementary and St. John Bosco High School.

Ann loved life and people. She would always say that her door was open and to bring a friend. There was always food available and she would make sure you never left hungry. She loved to cook, bake, and collect recipes. She always had a big spread on holidays and anytime she invited people over. She was a generous soul. She included anybody who wanted to be a part of her life. An avid camper, she loved the outdoors and being “away from it all”. She loved the desert, mountains, and the beach. Most of all, she loved being around her 3 boys and her grandkids, whether it be all together on holidays, or individually with their families.
