Jane Josephine Smith

It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the passing of Jane Josephine Smith, age 90, of Los Alamitos CA on December 30th, 2024. Jane was born on May 9, 1934 in Columbus Ohio, and leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, compassion, and dedication.

Jane graduated in 1952 from Columbus North High School. She was an educator for over 35 years. She taught school in Japan, Germany, and at Elizabeth Hudson Elementary in Long Beach CA. She graduated from Ohio State University in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in education, and was President of Alpha Phi Sorority. Jane was an avid Ohio State Football fan. She was also a member of Mortar Board Society. She later went to the College of Saint Thomas and got her Master’s Degree.

Jane was a member of the Crystal Cathedral Church in Garden Grove, CA. where she was in the choir for over 30 years. Her kindness, friendship, and compassion for other will be missed for all that knew her.

Jane is preceded in death by her father, Glenn M. Smith, her mother, Florence V. Smith, a sister Glendine V. Boeshaar, and a nephew Scott P. Jordan. She is survived by her nephew, Craig A. Jordan and wife Michele Jordan, and many cousins. Craig and Michele would like to acknowledge her neighbors and especially Bob Aboulafia for all his help with Jane. Bob has been a great friend. She touched many lives and her memory will live on in their hearts.

A celebration of life will be held at Rader-McDonald-Tidd Funeral Home in West Jefferson, Ohio at a date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to your local animal shelter.
