Long Beach, CA - Jane Alden, 52, of Lakewood, CA. died May 5, 2015, at the Los Alamitos Medical Center in Los Alamitos, CA after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Jane was born in Avon, Illinois on July 16, 1962, and was the daughter of Charles Kenneth Alden and Marilyn Ann Walker Alden. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Beth Alden Rydberg. She was a graduate of Henry Senachwine High School and Bradley University with a BS in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, Jane worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation as a Resident Engineer, Materials Testing and Design. Jane continued her career at CRSS as a Civil Engineer, Centennial Engineering as a Project Engineer and Project Manager, CCS Planning and Engineering as a Project Manager and her last fourteen years at CH2M HILL as a Chief Engineer and BIM Consultant. Her career focused on a wide range of Highway, Urban Roadway, Aviation and Site Design projects. She specialized in implementing integrated design automation to leverage BIM on projects. Jane was also extremely skilled in stewarding the civil applications across CH2M, advancing ProjectWise implementation and enhancements as well as training. Jane operated with the utmost integrity, was principle-oriented with unmatched dedication and an unrivaled passion for project delivery. Jane was driven by her faith in God, loved California, Stanford Women's Basketball, St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, golf, tennis, baseball, hiking, beach walks, cooking, mastering the grill, history, and laughter with her close circle of friends. Jane was a third generation member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an avid supporter of the Special Olympics. Members of her family include her beloved cat Jannie, sister Connie Bogdan (Dave), several nieces and nephews and Team Jane'. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jane Alden Scholarship Fund at Bradley University (1307 West Bradley Ave Peoria, IL 61606) or the Daughters of the American Revolution Spoon River Chapter. A private celebration of life will take place at a later time.
