James William Zastrow
June 4, 1938 — January 21, 2015
Bill was born in Long Beach, June 4, 1938. He was a lifelong resident of the City of Bellflower. He graduated from Bellflower High School; then he attended Mount San Antonio College. He served honorably in the National Guard. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and also served on the Board of Southern California Youth for Christ.
Bill was blessed with a large and loving family. He married his best friend, Linda Love Zastrow on December 26, 1982. Bill treated his family with patience, discipline and humility. He shared his infinite pool of knowledge for many different topics. He dedicated his life to God and encouraged those around him to seek God and explore the bible.
Bill was an honest man who always went "by the book." He was also a man of action and few words; yet he always had time to answer a question or solve a problem, to the genuine listening ear. He was the administrator of Peerless Water in Bellflower, a company built and developed by his father in the 1940's. He was also member of the Bellflower Rotary Club with 50 years perfect attendance.His passion in Rotary was Polio Plus, an international program to wipe out polio in the world. He served 16 years on the board of the Central Basin Municipal Water District.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; his children Scott (wife Carla) and Alisa who reside in Michigan; step-children, Dawn (husband Kenny), and James (wife Julie); 14 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. He enjoyed bike riding and snow skiing. He hiked in Yosemite and climbed Half Dome multiple times.
Bill's Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 14, 11:30 A.M. at Calvary Baptist Church in Bellflower
