James Leon Chandler, Sr.

James L. Chandler was born on May 9th, 1924, in Standing Rock Creek, Dover, Stewart County, Tennessee. He was the 4th son of Fred and Manie (Farless) Chandler. He went to the Lord’s house on November 30, 2021. He married the love of his life, Ila Ahlvers, on July 31, 1942. He served in the military during World War II as a plane mechanic. He raised three children, James Jr. (deceased), Patricia and Kendall Chandler. He is survived by Michael Modica (Son In Law) and grandchildren Deanna Chandler, Michael Jr, Matthew Modica and Kendall Jr. He has 4 great-grandsons, Michael III and Dean Modica, Zachary Chandler and Matthew Modica Jr. He was a carpenter by trade with the Long Beach School District for over 30 years. He loved to bowl, golf and go to casinos. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Manie Chandler and four brothers, Charles, Claude, Elvis and Paul Chandler.
