Passed away Wednesday,February 25,2015 in his sleep at home in Lakewood.

James was Born in Long Beach,Ca on June,2,1923 to Alvy and Ruby Brown. He graduated from Excelcesior high school in 1941. He went to work for Douglas aircraft until Uncle Sam called him to serve his country in the US Army in 1943 where he was in the 3rd armored division speardhead . He fought in several batttes including Normandy,Northern France, Ardennes, Belgium and Rhineland, Germany. He received Several medals including the Purple Heart with 1 Oak Leaf cluster.

When he came home from the service he started working as a auto body repairman where he began working at Al's paint and body and retiring from Bellwood Auto Body in 1989.

Married Cecelia "Byrd" in 1947 together they had 4 children, CeCe, Pattie, Marie and James Jr, and seven grandchildren Greg, Courtney, Graham, Reese, Caitlin, Chandler and Dalton and 3 great grandchildren, Taylor, Chloe and Gavin (who came into this world hours after his death)

Family meant everything to him he loved having family and friends around him.

Together they camped every summer,he taught them about fishing, pitching a tent and loving nature.

He enjoyed working in his garden growing veggies and flowers.

In 1994 his wife of 45 years passed away.

He continued to be involved with his family and his church, then in 1998 he married Ruth Phipps.

He is preceded in death by Mother "Ruby" ,his Father "Alvy" ,his wife "Cecelia", a brother "Robert" and a sister "Betty". He is Survived by wife "Ruth", sisters Doris Warren and Shirley Warren,his children, daughter Cecelia and son in law Greg Brown, Pattie and son in law Jerry Chamberlain, Marie and son in law David, His son James and partner Marley. 7 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephew. And his little dog Lola.
