In Loving Memory of Jaime “Jaume” Aranda Jr.
May 25, 1937 – Apr 29, 2025
Jaime Aranda, beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away
peacefully on April 29th, 2025, at the age of 87, at his home in Lakewood, CA.
Born in Barcelona, Spain, Jaime’s life was a testament to courage and perseverance. At the age of
16, along with his brothers and sister—and with little more than a suitcase and a dream—he set sail
for Argentina, a land that would become his home and where he would build a life filled with
purpose.
Settling in Buenos Aires in 1953, Jaime worked as a machinist responsible for fabricating,
maintaining, and repairing machinery and paid attention to all the details. He met and married the
love of his life, Zunilda Aranda, and together they had two children—Lili and Andre. Jaime and Zuni
later journeyed across the globe to America in 1968. built a warm home, and created a legacy
grounded in family and resilience where in 1978, daughter Lisa was born. Shortly after Jaime became
a proud U.S. citizen and deeply loved his adopted country. He spent 35 years working as a project
engineer at companies such as McDonnell Douglas, Saint-Gobain, and Furon.
Jaime never lost his Spanish accent—or his love for flamenco music, strong coffee, and telling
stories that grew a little taller with each retelling. He believed in hard work and always helping
a neighbor in need.
And when the music started? Jaime danced. Whether it was a spontaneous tango in the kitchen or
spinning his grandkids around the backyard, he moved with the rhythm of life—light on his feet and
full of joy. Dancing wasn’t just something he did; it was how he lived: freely, warmly, and with
heart.
A master behind the grill, Jaime was happiest when tending to a barbecue, surrounded by family and
the scent of slow-cooked asado. His love language was feeding people—and his grandchildren knew the
best meals and the warmest hugs always came from “Grandpa’s backyard.”
Jaime loved visiting his favorite local restaurants—not just for the food, but for the people. He
made friends with waiters, remembered names, and always left with a smile—and maybe a new story to
tell.
Jaime was also a master handyman. If something was broken, he could fix it—whether it was a
leaky pipe or a squeaky door. He believed in using his hands not just to build, but to help.
He especially cherished family trips to Sequoia National Park, where he’d stand in quiet awe of the
giant trees, reminding everyone that strength grows slowly, and that peace is found in stillness.
He is survived by his wife Zuni and his daughters, Lili and Lisa; along with Son- in-laws Bob and
Josh, including nine grandchildren who adored his tales of “España”; and countless neighbors who
knew him as "Jimmy," the man who always had time for a chat.
May his memory continue to move through us like music. And may we always carry forward the
rhythm of his love.
