Jacqueline “Jacque” Sue Strange, age 62, left her earthly life on January 23, 2022, of cardiac arrest after a sudden bout with COVID-19. Jacque was an amazing and devoted mother, grandmother, and sister.
Jacque was born on April 27, 1959, to David and Frances Oldham. Although born in Paragould, AR, Jacque was a native Southern Californian living her entire life in the region. She grew up in Garden Grove with her mother and one-year younger sister, Alexis. Jacque and Alexis were best friends their whole lives.
In 1979, Jacque married Destry Strange. They had two daughters, Tracee Lynne and Michelle Elaine Strange. Several years later, Jacque welcomed her third daughter, Ciara Jade Strange. Jacque’s daughters blessed her with eight grandchildren. Jacob, Jared, Raena, Lexie, Troy, Juju, Niko, and soon-to-be-born Marie Jacqueline. In 2015, Jacque met and shared her heart with the true love of her life, Douglas “Doug” Baker.
Jacque is preceded in death by her parents, David and Frances, as well as her love, Doug. She is survived by her three daughters Tracee, Michelle, and Ciara, and her eight grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Alexis and Craig McMannis, her brother and sister-in-law, Race and Tesa Oldham, and her five nieces and nephews.
Jacque was a vibrant and creative person. She worked as a material storekeeper and as a merchandizer for a number of years. She also worked at the Honda Center, where she met and fell in love with Doug. Even after her career, her creativity never diminished. She was a gifted crafter and seamstress. She will forever be known for her generosity, wit and sparkle for life. She had a big heart and always offered help to anyone in need. She had the ability to put others at ease with her graciousness and warmth. Jacque loved spending time with her family and friends. She looked forward to the “Concert in the Park” series every year, having a great time with her friends and grandchildren. Her creativity always shined brightest when she was coming up with new and unique games to keep everyone entertained, like the silly “unwrapping games” she played with her family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. These memories are in our hearts and will never be forgotten. Her absence will be felt for a long time to come.
As Jacque would say, “Elbows Up!"
