It is with deep sadness the family of Helen Loraine Arbuckle Whitwell announces her passing at age 93 on May 16, 2019.
Mom grew up in Long Beach, California and graduated from Polytech High School. Her first job was at her friend’s family bakery. She loved to dance and met her husband, Fred at one of the military servicemen dances held in Long Beach.
Fred & Helen soon married and raised two daughters. She worked at St. Joseph’s High School as librarian for many years, retiring well into her seventies.
Helen loved chocolate, books, NCIS, Barry Manilow and The Big Bang Theory. But most of all she loved to make her family and friends laugh!! ? ?
Mom is survived by her two daughters, Mary Lou Fentis and Theresa Owens, her four grandchildren, Taylor Reid, Tracy Hennessy, Marisa Ryan, and Christian Fentis, and her numerous nieces.
A funeral mass and celebration of life will be held at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Long Beach on Friday, May 24, 2019 at 9:30 am.
