Harold was born in February 9th 1936 in Omaha, Nebraska to Harold and Irene Stuben. He was the third of five children. Harold graduated from Creighton Prep and attended Creighton University. Harold also served in the United States Army for two years as a radio operator in Texas.
After serving, Harold decided to make his way to California with a couple of his buddies. They took odd jobs along the way, like working in a uranium mine, to pay for their move. When he finally made it to California he settled in Pasadena when he purchased his first house as well as quite a few rental properties. Every weekend he would drive to the beach to soak up the sun. At a young adults dance at St. Philip the Apostle Parish in Pasadena, Harold met the love of his life, Joan. He and Joan got married a year later on April 27, 1963.
The two spent the next 53 ½ years raising their 5 children. During that time, Harold was a great husband, father, and provider. He was dedicated and involved in all of his kids lives. He coached his kids sports, and when he wasn’t coaching them, he and Joan were in the stands cheering them on. Later they would go to as many games and activities as they could for their 9 grandchildren. Harold and Joan loved to travel. They would take several road trips as well as a trip to Hawaii and a cruise to Alaska.
Harold was always mindful of his friends. Every few months he would write letters to all of his high school buddies to let them know he was thinking about them. If he found out someone was sick or need prayers he would send a letter to everyone in his class to inform them of the need and his classmates would rally and send the person cards, letters, and noticed of prayers. He never wanted any of them to think they were forgotten. He truly enjoyed his time with his friends, new and old.
Harold was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He had a strong impact on so many lives. He will be missed by all, especially his family. Now he and mother are together again and watching over all of us.
