Gregory Arthur Libeu

On July 16th, 2023, Gregory Arthur Libeu passed away suddenly in his home surrounded by family at the age of 76. He was born in Manhattan Beach, California in 1947 and spent his childhood in Brea and Lakewood. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1965. While married and working full-time he attended night school and obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Long Beach State University.

Greg married his lifelong partner and sweetheart, Shirley, in 1968. They were happily married for 54 years and had three children and eight grandchildren.

Greg was generous, reliable, honest, and wholeheartedly good. He was known for his solid financial advice and his love of a good hole-in-the-wall restaurant. He was a wonderful husband, father, and Papa.

Greg’s work ethic is a legacy in itself. He rarely took a sick day and never arrived late. He worked most of his career in Information Technology. Starting out at Bank of America physically moving large reels of magnetic tape that stored data. He later worked for Hughes Aircraft which became Raytheon and then CSC. He finished his career working with legacy systems in the healthcare industry at Children’s Hospital and finally Kaiser Permanente, where he was not only a manager and colleague, but also a mentor and friend to many.

Greg enjoyed traveling with his family and friends; from Mammoth Mountain to cruises, and summers abroad. He loved going to car shows and exploring new wineries. The man loved a good road trip.

In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived and missed by his children and their spouses; Jennifer and Michael Ramirez, Michelle and Ante Babich, Robert and Jaynie Libeu, as well as eight grandchildren, Alexa, Cristina, Olivia, Khloe, Grant, Anya, Ivo, and Cruz.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, August 6th at Luyben Dilday Mortuary Chapel. 5161 Arbor Road Long Beach, CA 90808. All family and friends are welcome.
