After a 14 month battle with ovarian cancer, Gloria Kay Gonzalez died on August 13, 2016 in Hawaiian Gardens, CA. at the age of 55. She leaves behind her husband, Art Gonzalez; her sons Jesse and Jared Gonzalez; and her daughter, Jamie Lawendowski.
Gloria was born on July 4,1961 in South Gate, California to mother Coral Rose, who predeceased her. Gloria is also survived by her father, John Neidercorn
Gloria married Art Gonzalez January 9,1979. The couple lived in Lakewood, Ca. and raised their three children.
Gloria was a lover of the outdoors, gardening especially. It wasn't uncommon to find her with garden gloves on and garden soil on her clothes and face. She had the amazing ability to bring life back to dying plants. Gloria enjoyed simple pleasures and was content to browse yard sales on the weekends, go to the beach or an antique store, and have family dinners. Gloria was a driven stay at home mom and wife with a knack for organization, and a love for her pets. When diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2015, she remained dedicated in her work and to her family, and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Gloria is survived by her husband and children, as well as her grandsons, Zachary Zornes, and Lucas, Noah, and Caleb Lawendowski.
Unfailing in her faith, Gloria will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Monday, August 29, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. Fitting for her love of the outdoors, her service will take place at the graveside. There will be a reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Gloria's name to the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance.
