Geraldine Hoge Thomas, born April 8, 1937 in Eveleth, Minnesota, passed away June 1, 2017 in Santa Monica, California after losing a 4-month bout with lung cancer.

Geraldine was born to Robert and Dora (Tassi) Rajacich. She married Gregg Leroy Hoge September 15, 1963, whom she later divorced in February, 1972. She married Lance Edward Thomas on March 27, 2007. She has one daughter, Sheryl Maurine.

An elementary school educator and an icon of Culver City, Geraldine received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota in 1959, and her Honors Master’s degree from Pepperdine University. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. as well as historian for Alpha Delta Pi (1956-59). She went on to teach at the Chaska Public Schools (MN, 1959-60), Minnetonka Public Schools (MN, 1960-62), Norwalk-La Mirada Public Schools (CA, 1962-64) and Culver City Unified School District (CA, 1966-2000).

Geraldine was also a Fellow of the Culver City Guidance Clinic Guild (1981-89), a member of the California State Rep. Ctrl. Committee (1986-90, 1992-94), a member of the L.A. County Rep. Ctrl. Committee (1987--), vice chairperson of the 0f the 49th Assembly District Ctrl. Rep. Committee (1988--), a member of the board of directors of the Selective Service System, Culver City (1993--) and a member of the Santa Monica Rep. Women Federated (2006--).

In addition, Geraldine was named Teacher of the Year by the Elk’s Lodge (1982), grantee (1988-89), a Fellow of the American Federation of Teachers, a member of the International Platform Association, California Federation of Teachers, as well as Vice-President of the Culver City Federation of Teachers (1978-79).

Geraldine loved traveling, having visited 57 countries and 47 states, as well as gardening and walking. She is survived by her husband Lance and her daughter Sheryl. She is an icon of Culver City, California.
