Geraldine Hervey was born on June 12, 1941, to Frankie and Sammie Hervey in Lone Oak, Texas. She was the sixth of seven children. The Lone Oak residence of the Hervey's was always busy and full of family members as her older nieces and nephews were raised in the home alongside Geraldine and her younger brother.

The Hervey's moved to Oak Cliff, a suburb of Dallas, Texas where the family attended Shiloh Baptist Church. Her schooling in Lone Oak and Dallas included NW Harllee Primary School and Lincoln High where she met Wendell Prince, Sr. The high school sweethearts married in November of 1958. A large household was commonplace with Geraldine as she too had a home full of children keeping her busy where she pridefully reigned over her brood. Geraldine had mentioned on several occasions "Didn't nobody want to watch four and five babies, so I kept my own kids!"

In 1966 change and opportunity called for relocation to Southern California. Geraldine and the family spent their early years in Los Angeles and Compton before planting roots on Helmick Street in Carson. Fondly referred to as "832", the household was the gathering place for family, friends, and random folks from all over as Mrs. Geri, also known as "G", always enjoyed having company.

After the last of the Prince children started attending school, "G" began her long career at Con-Agra in merchandising and sales until her retirement. Momma Geri kept the Lord close to her heart and fellowshipped at Double Rock Baptist Church and neighboring houses of worship.

As a member of Eastern Star Prisca Chapter #5 of Los Angeles, Geri served in their planning and auxiliary committees. Trips to Las Vegas, local rides and casino bus runs were always on her "to-do" list. Geri fondness for children found her working part time after retirement in the Early Education Program with the LBUSD then finally Leapwood Elementary, where she also volunteered, worked and raised her extended family of more babies and friends.

Mom G had a saucy way about her. Having the gift for gab and a listening ear, friends and strangers alike gravitated to her sharing their innermost feelings and life stories... Her evenings were spent like clockwork watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, and chatting on the phone with friends and family.

On Sunday, January 28, 2024, the Lord called our beloved Mom Prince, Ma, "G", Grandma, Momma Geri into his heavenly kingdom. Mom leaves behind a legacy that includes her marriage to Wendell Prince, Sr., which was dissolved in the early 80's, son Wendell Prince Jr., preceded her in death, son Dwight (spouse Annette), daughter LaWanda, daughter Cymetria (spouse Jacque), son Tracy. Grandchildren Vannessa, Brittney, Megan, Tamia, Noah, Lauren, and Jacques Kyle. Great Grandchildren Samaj, Nyleeyah, Naciah, Granddogs, Zhari, Pierson, and Rock, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Mom will be missed, but not forgotten, as her love is forever etched in our hearts.
