GERALDINE K. BAUMANN

Geraldine “Gerry” Baumann (Kalb) passed away peacefully on the 30th of August 2023 in Seal Beach California.  She is survived by her husband Donald, her two sons, Michael (and Betty) and Timothy (and LeAnne), as well as her three grandchildren Francesca, Glenn, and Kevin, and five great grandchildren.

Gerry was born on the 2nd of August 1929 to Francis Kalb and Martina Wager in Rochester New York.  She had one older sister, Elaine.  She grew up in Rochester and attended Our Lady of Mercy High School, graduating in 1947.  After high school, she completed secretarial school then worked as a telephone operator for a short time before moving to Washington D.C. where she worked for the Supreme Court.

In 1952, Gerry met her husband Donald Baumann, who was in the Air Force in Washington D.C. and they got married at St. Matthew’s Cathedral on the 10th of September 1955.  After Donald left the Air Force they resettled in Southern California, living in Ventura and Temple City.

Gerry was a loving wife, as well as a very kind and devoted mother to her sons Michael and Timothy.  She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her three grandchildren.  In addition, she selflessly volunteered her time and was very active in her parish Holy Angels in Arcadia during which time she also served in multiple organizations supporting the church and school, including leading their church’s Altar Society and working for the United Way in Los Angeles.

Gerry was very passionate and active in her sewing clubs and quilting guilds in the Pasadena area.  She very much enjoyed time with the friends that she made through her sewing and quilting activities.  Her talent for creating beautiful designs was evident in the numerous quilts that she made and shared with family and friends.

Service plans are pending.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the United Way.
