Galentine, George Ray (1922-2015)
George Ray Galentine of Seal Beach, California, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 30, 2015. He was 93 years old.
George was born on February 22, 1922 (George Washington’s Birthday) to parent’s Carl Dae and Nellie Jane (Clovis) Galentine in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was the middle of five children who grew up in the country hills of Western Pennsylvania. He relocated to California with his family and worked as a mechanical engineer for Ford Motor Company, Aerojet, and Boeing for over 25 years. George was a “Jack of all trades” and could fix just about anything especially cars for fun and to make some extra cash for his family. He was such a proud American and enjoyed traveling across our great nation, even moving back to Beham, Pennsylvania to run the “Galentine Country Store” for several years. He comes from generations of farmers and loved growing vegetables wherever he lived. He also lived in Colorado and Lancaster, CA raising miniature horses. George is a descendant of Johann Jacob Gallentine II who was a Revolutionary War American soldier who served at the “Battle of White Plains” in NY on October 28, 1776. The Galentine Family has lived in Pennsylvania since 1724 (Johann Jakob Galatin) immigrating from Germany.
George is now in the spiritual company of his wife of 45 years Teresa, his first born daughter Pamela, his parents Carl and Nellie, siblings Olive, Robert, and Harold. He will be extremely missed by his sister Geraldine Henry, children George Jr., Merna (Mamie), John (Mike), Cyndi, and Steve, his grandchildren Kristel, Amie Rae, Kacey, Michelle, Chrystin, Kellie, Nick, Katie, Michael, Conner, and Tanner, his great grandchildren Jake, Maxx, Mia, Matthew, Kamryn, Koryn, Macey, Sammi, Jonas, and Joshua.
George will always be remembered for his Big Blue eyes, his big beautiful heart, and smile. He was known to make just about anyone smile with his lively jokes. He had a happy disposition and always had a clever remark. He was witty, a “prankster”, honest, hardworking, friendly, giving, loving, and compassionate. He was such an incredible husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. We miss him incredibly but we all have peace in our hearts knowing that he is with our Lord and that we will see him again someday.
