George Christopher Davis

G. Christopher Davis passed away in Santa Barbara on May 11, 2026, from complications following heart surgery. He died peacefully with his immediate family at his bedside. Chris is survived by Pamela (Dilday) Davis, his wife of 42 years, and daughters Amy Overgaavw (Mike) and Mary Allison Kusserow (Todd). He was Bumpa to his grandchildren Matthew and Sara Grace Kusserow, and Uncle Chris to his nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Steve Hoy and Steve Dilday. Chris was predeceased by his older sister, Karen Davis Hoy.

Born July 22, 1943, in Los Angeles to Barbara and George W. Davis, Chris grew up in Santa Monica, where he attended public schools before graduating from Santa Monica High School.

There he played football and made lifelong school friends. He got his haircut for free at MGM Studios, where his dad George W. Davis was the head of the Art Department.

Chris attended USC, where he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity and played Trojan football his freshman year. While at SC, he refined his choice of career, attaining a Bachelor's Degree in Management as well as a Master’s Degree in Management Science from USC.

Chris Davis specialized in real estate economics, first working for ERA and Coldwell Banker.

In 1974, he established his own consultancy business and continued working until his death. Notable clients included His Highness the Aga Khan, Marlon Brando, Toyota, and consultancy work for domestic and foreign governments, public utilities, landowners, and estate attorneys. As an educator, he was the Director of the Center for Real Estate, Paul Merage Graduate School of Business at UCI, and later lectured at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo College in the—College of Architecture and Environmental Science. From 1992 to 2015, he was a guest lecturer at USC.

He lived in Palos Verdes and Newport Beach before he and Pam settled in Santa Barbara in 2006, where he continued his professional life. Chris pursued diverse hobbies, including photography, ham radio, astronomy, and travel. His intellectual curiosity led him to independent study in history, classical music, and advanced mathematics. Chris kept in close touch with his family and friends, especially his beloved SMCC (Santa Monica Camping Club).

Optimistic by nature, Chris lifted low spirits and showed up when the going got tough.

People he met along the way recognized his big smile years later.
