Gary William Hopperstad Aka Alexander Wilhelm Hope

Gary Hopperstad  AKA Alexander Wilhelm Hope, passed away peacefully Friday, February 17, 2023.

Gary was born May 29, 1939, in Watford City, North Dakota to Jewett and Vera Hopperstad.

Gary had a wonderful life from the stories he would tell. Gary worked for MGM when he was younger singing, dancing and some acting. He was an entrepreneur all of his life and owned many businesses; from a potato farm, a pumice mine, and a gold mine; to a casino, an insurance company, a bank, and an acting studio. Gary traveled the world and lived many different places. But he ended up settling in Huntington Beach, CA with Lisa Fangupo and her two sons, Naki and Latu. We had great times as a family and loved hearing his stories from his past. Also, during this time, he went back to acting and did a few parts here and there. Gary was a stand in for Celine Dion’s husband on Mad TV and was the Airtouch Santa Claus. Gary was also working diligently writing books and completed and published 10+ books. Gary was also an avid fitness buff and worked out every day even at the care facility during the last 2 years when he was dealing with Parkinson’s. Gary will truly be missed!
