Fred H. Toomey, 70, of Los Alamitos, passed away the morning of the 10th of November, 2014. Husband to Sharon R. Toomey and Father to Shelly Green (Steve), Lisa Baker (Darryl), Michael Toomey (Evin), and Jennifer Toomey (Jake) and Papa to eleven grandchildren, Fred was loved and looked up to by all. He was born on the 9th of April, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio. As a young man, Fred married his sweetheart, Sharon at the age of 21 in Norwalk, California. He spent two years in the service.Together, Fred and Sharon raised four children and mentored many more. Fred worked as an Ironworker for Local 433 for 40 years and retired in 2002. Upon his retirement, Fred found his true passions as Papa to 11 grandchildren, treasure hunter, Harley rider, woodworker, and racquetball player. Fred was a friend to all and a hero to his children, grandchildren, and many others. He carried with him a contagious light and was always eager to lend a helping hand. Fred lived and loved every moment of his life. Until we meet again, old friend.
