Frank was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, where he served as a navigator on C-130 aircraft, participating in special operations missions with courage and precision. His time in the military was defined by his steadfast sense of duty and his remarkable skill in navigating complex challenges. After his honorable service, Frank transitioned to a distinguished career in aerospace, where his passion for innovation and exploration culminated in achieving his dream job at Virgin Galactic. His work reflected his boundless curiosity and belief in humanity’s potential to reach for the stars.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Frank’s life was deeply rooted in his faith and his desire to give back to others. A devoted member of his church, he was a source of inspiration and support to his congregation. For over 30 years, he dedicated countless hours to community service, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those he touched. Frank is survived by his loving wife Anna Maria Sharkany, his daughter Nichole Saul, son-in-law Michael Saul, and granddaughter, Phoebe, as well as his stepson Chris de la Rambeljie. He is preceded in death by his father, Louis Sharkany, and his mother Mary (Rignola) Sharkany.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held on February 1, 2025, 10am at St Joseph Catholic Church in Long Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Mary’s Mercy Center, reflecting Frank’s lifelong commitment to helping others.
Though he has departed from this world, Frank’s spirit and the profound impact of his life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
