Floyd Ryle was born on January 13
th
, 1927 to Huey Ryle and Alline Clements in Union, Kentucky. He was raised on a tobacco share croppers farm along with his older brothers Eldon and Robert. He was a farm boy, but in 1944, he left the farm to join the US Navy to fight in WWII. After basic training he was stationed in San Diego, California where he waited for orders to go and fight for our country. The orders finally arrived and on the day he was to ship out to the South Pacific, the war ended. He would say when asked about his time in the service that he fought the Battle of San Diego Bay. While he was stationed in San Diego he met the love of his life, Netha Burris while on leave in Santa Monica, California. They shared 65 wonderful years of marriage until her passing in 2011. Together they had three children- Kathy, Carol and Steven.
After the War, Floyd became a plumber and stayed in that field for 35 yrs. He was affectionately known as "The Plumber to the Stars" as some of his clients were Frank Sinatra, Lawrence Welk and Tex Ritter. "Pops" and "Nonie", as they were affectionately called by the family, loved to camp, watch the races at Santa Anita, play cards with friends, bowling and spending time with their beloved family. Pops was quite the poet, writing love poems to Nonie their entire relationship, as well for his family and friends. He was adored by all who knew him and will be missed more than words can convey.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol McCauley (John) of Payson, AZ, his son Steven (Vicki) of Garden Grove, California, grandchildren Tom (Jamie) Feld, Scott Feld, April Watts, Erin (Kristen) Barr, Scott (Thresa) Elwood, Allen (Tamara) Ryle, Jason Ryle, Travis (Somay) Ryle, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Netha, and daughter, Kathy.
"Everyone can’t be happy, everyone shouldn’t be sad. Just count your blessings of today. Thank God! And be glad."-Floyd Ryle
