Don Calvin “Whiskers” Fishering, 91, of La Habra, California, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025 after a courageous battle with mesothelioma. Born on December 24, 1933 in San Bernardino, Don lived a life defined by integrity, devotion, and service to others.
A proud member of the Naval Reserves, Don built a distinguished career as a machinist for the Department of defense where he faithfully served for 37 years. As a 33degree Mason and lifelong member of the Elks along with the Eastern Star, Don exemplified loyalty and brotherhood in all aspects of his life. His dedication to service extended to his community through 25 years of volunteering with Meals on Wheels, where his kindness touched countless lives.
Don will be remembered for his unwavering character, impeccable integrity, and dry sense of humor. He cherished his time as a loving father and grandfather and his passions included caring for his beloved 1970 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia and 1967 Ford Mustang, reading, and sharing stories with family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia Hunsaker; Tamara Fishering, and his son, Jeff Fishering; as well as his brother Ronald Fishering.
Funeral services will be held at La Habra United Methodist Church, 631 North Euclid St., La Habra, CA 90631. Internment will follow at Forest lawn Cypress 4471 Lincoln Ave., Cypress, CA. May his memory be eternal.
