Evelyn "Evy" Elizabeth Copenhaver

Evelyn Elizabeth (Evy) Copenhaver passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at the age of 94 at her home in Lakewood, CA with her three daughters by her side.  She was born in Carrington, ND on January 5, 1930 to JM and Mabel Carr and lived there during her early life.  She graduated from Carrington High School where she met the love of her life Cyrus Copenhaver a Carrington farmer.  Evy and Cyrus were wed on June 14, 1949 and began a wonderful family life together.  They had three daughters and decided to move their family to Southern California for a new and very different life where Cyrus became an aircraft inspector professional and she became a very talented and life long hair dresser.

Evy lost Cyrus, the love of her life in 1990 but wrapped her love around her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchildren throughout the rest of her life.  She loved her game shows on television, her handheld poker game, and visiting with her best friend, Audrey from across the street.  She was a very devout Catholic and never missed her Sunday Mass.

Evy is survived by her daughters – Rebecca Tannahill, Bagley IA, Brenda Shanholtzer, Lakewood CA, and Stephanie (Scott) Chapman, Lakewood CA.  Six grandchildren-Nicole (Jeff) Johnson, Anaheim Hills CA, Richard Tannahill, Riverside CA, Brandon (Natalie) Shanholtzer, Sacramento CA, Derek (Kidist) Chapman, Crofton MD, Kyle Chapman, Las Vegas NV, and Kaitlin Chapman, Long Beach CA.  Five great grandchildren-Raigan Johnson (20), Savannah Shanholtzer (14), Olivia Shanholtzer (8), Reece Tannahill (11), Jeremy Tannahill (10), Kyle Tannahill (8), Sierra Chapman (3) and Issac Chapman (6 months).  Also survived by two of her brothers, Joseph (Rita) Carr and John Carr.
