Evelyn Christine Christensen

Evelyn Christine (VerHagen) Christensen, 86 of Long Beach, CA went to be with her Lord on January 10, 2019. Evelyn was born May 2, 1932 in Neillsville, Wisconsin. She was the daughter of Paul and Irma VerHagen, the wife of Dale R. Christensen and the mother of Dale R. Christensen, Jr., Roger (Linda) Christensen, Linda (Greg) Graham, Steven (Susan) Christensen, grandmother of Robert Graham, Roger Christensen, AnnaLynne Graham Batchelor, Jason Turo, Elizabeth Graham, great grandmother of Aspen and Paisley Batchelor.

On January 10, 2019 our world was rocked forever. Our mother finished her journey here on earth and joined her parents, her husband, her sons Dale and Steven in glory. Although we grieve deeply, we rejoice in the new life that is before her. Evelyn went to 26 schools in Wisconsin and Illinois, then graduated from Manual Arts Senior High School in Los Angeles CA moving to Long Beach in 1950. She was a bookkeeper, a Pharmacy Technician, a Pharmacist and yet she identified herself as a “Homemaker”, her most treasured vocation. Evelyn was involved in her community, especially the PTA at Carver elementary, a Girl Scout Leader, on the St Thomas Altar Guild, in Marriage Encounter and was a proud resident of Scrivener Street, the best street in the world she would say. Services will be: Viewing, February 1, 2019 4:00-7:00 Luyben Dilday Mortuary. Funeral: February 2, 2019 St Thomas of Canterbury Church, 12:00 with a burial at Forrest Lawn – Cypress and gathering afterwards at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church.

Our hearts are broken, yet our faith is strong, we are grateful to have been called “hers” and look forward to the reunion to come.
