Eugene I. Tadlock, 88, a native of Long Beach, CA, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
Eugene was born in Long Beach in 1929, and continued to call Long Beach home until his passing. He attended Starr King Elementary, Lindberg Jr. High, and Jordan High School. After high school he joined the Marines and continued his service as a Marine Reservist after his discharge in 1949. After leaving the Marines, he started attending Compton Jr. College while working at Mifflins Market in Long Beach and later Consolidated Dairy in L.A. While working and going to school he applied to the Long Beach Police and Fire Academies and was accepted to both. The L.B. Police Academy called first and in 1953 he became a Long Beach Police Officer. He later transferred to the Motor Patrol Division where he achieved the rank of Motor Sargent. He was also a member of the Motor Patrol Drill Team. He retired in 1982 after 28 years with the L.B.P.D. Eugene enjoyed spending time outdoors and in retirement spent most of his summers camping and fishing with an occasional trip across the country to see the U.S. and visit family and friends.
Eugene is survived by his wife Gloria, son Gary, son Michael and his wife Ann Marie; grandchildren Christopher and Alexander; great-grandchildren Zoey, Ryleigh, Timothy, and Keegan. He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Margaret Tadlock.
