Elvera C. Moreno Profile Photo

Elvera (“Vera”) Chretin Moreno was called home to be with her Lord on February 16, 2020. She spent 93 amazing years as the most loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother anyone could ask for.

Born in Los Angeles in 1926 to Juan Robledo Chretin and Carmen Calderon, Vera was one of six sisters, solidifying her love of family early in life. She grew up splitting her time between Los Angeles and Mexicali, where her family had ties.

She met Henry Moreno in 1945 and enjoyed nearly six decades of marriage in Lakewood until his death in 2007. Those 60 years were spent building a home, a family and a love that was admired by all.

Vera was her happiest when she was surrounded by family. In addition to Henry, this included seven children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

She was a phenomenal cook, a master seamstress and the truest example of selfless, unconditional love. She gave all that she had and she gave it freely to whomever needed it. This extended not only to her family, but to neighbors, charities and anyone she deemed in need.

Her family will miss her bright eyes, child-like laugh and infectious energy that only seemed to increase with her growing brood. She was the gentlest of souls and a true light in all of our lives.
