Elizabeth Jane (Doherty) Moriarty of Long Beach, California, died of old age on May 28, 2025 in Seal Beach, California

She was born in San Francisco in 1926 to the late John and Anne Doherty and lived through the depression.  Elizabeth, known as “Betty”, attended Lincoln High School before obtaining her teaching credential from San Francisco State College and beginning teaching. She loved her years teaching at Stowers Elementary School, always speaking proudly of her students.  Betty actively supported her daughter’s activities, including serving as a Camp Fire Girls leader.  Betty was an active member in the United Federation of Doll Clubs and regularly attended its conventions.

Betty was kind, thoughtful and very proud of her family.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, John T Moriarty, and her sister Jaqueline Garland. She is survived by her daughters Carol Bingaman (Bart), Nancy Moriarty, and Joan Hubbard (Jim), and grandchildren Chris Hubbard (fiancée Callan) and Anne Hubbard.

A private service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations to U.S. Vets Long Beach (us vets.org) would be greatly appreciated.
