Elaine Concetta Schmidt, a devoted educator, beloved mother, cherished sister, and loving wife, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 13, 2025, in Orange County. Born in Chicago on September 18, 1939, Elaine lived a life rich in love, laughter, and passionate dedication to her family and career.

For over 30 years, Elaine touched the lives of countless children as an elementary school teacher within the Garden Grove Unified School District. Her career was marked not only by her teaching at home but also by her adventurous spirit that took her overseas, where she taught in Germany and Japan. A true testament to her commitment, Elaine's influence extended far beyond the classroom, nurturing young minds with kindness and wisdom.

Elaine was known for her delightful personality—a vibrant blend of stubbornness tempered by a heart of gold. She had an unmatched ability to put others' needs above her own, creating an atmosphere of warmth and love in her home. Her culinary talents were legendary; she could whip up delicious meals, including her specialty, Italian dishes, always ensuring that her loved ones were well-fed and satisfied.

Among her many passions, Elaine found joy in crocheting and completing crossword puzzles. Furthermore, she had an insatiable appetite for celebrity gossip, often seen flipping through tabloid magazines as the TV blared in the background.

Elaine’s love for her family was boundless. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Lisa Gellerman; her beloved sisters, Evelyn Lewin and Carol Shupljak; her grandson, Tyler Schmidt; and her beloved dog, Roxie, affectionately known as Roxstar. Each of them carries a piece of Elaine’s spirit in their hearts. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Schmidt, and her son, Stephen Schmidt, both of whom she loved deeply, and whose memories she kept alive with vigor.

As we remember Elaine Concetta Schmidt, let us celebrate the life of an extraordinary woman who enriched our lives with her love, guidance, and passion. Her legacy will continue to live on through the lives she touched and the memories she created, forever cherished by all who had the privilege to know her.
