Earl Franklin Johnson Jr. passed away peacefully at his home in Long Beach of natural causes on October 8, 2022.
Son of Earl and Lillian, he was born in St. Louis, MO on September 30, 1929. Beloved and devoted husband of Anna Marie Johnson, nee Jakovac, they were married on October 27, 1951.
Earl served with the U.S. Navy in the Korean War, and in retirement, was an enthusiastic supporter of charitable organizations supporting U.S. servicemen. He was also an accomplished Golden Gloves boxer and oarsman, winning numerous national titles. Earl was active with his local church, and served on the boards of Youth for Christ, DESA, Agape House, and Biola University.
Earl is survived by his wife Ann; their children Penny, Keith, Daniel, Paul; and grandchildren Carolyn, Michelle, and Chase.
He was predeceased by his brothers Art Meinelt and Paul Johnson, and his son Stephen Johnson.
There will be a private memorial service at Riverside National Cemetery.
