She graduated in 1943 and when to a year of Business College before going to work for the Naval Supply Depot in San Diego.

While enjoying her hobby of Roller Skating, she met Glenn Jones who was in the Navy at the time. On March 7, 1945, she and Glenn were married in the Methodist Church in Ocean Beach, California. As Glenn was in the Navy they traveled to various states and in 1947 Glenn got out of the Navy. They lived in San Diego where their first daughter Carol was born in 1949. In 1952 they moved to Long Beach, California where Glenn went to work for McDonald Douglas. In 1953 they moved into their own home where their second daughter Pamela was born. In 1959 their third daughter Vickie was born.

In 1971 Doris went to work for GTE (now Verizon) Yellow pages and retired in 1988 after 17 years to take care of her ailing Father.
