Donna Maria Johnson

Donna Maria Johnson (nee Wunder), passed away peacefully on December 31, 2019 at the age of 78. She was born on September 18, 1941 in Portsmouth Virginia, to Robert and Agnes (Cookie) Wunder. When she was a young girl, her parents relocated to Long Beach, Ca., where she resided for the rest of her life. She met her husband Max in 1959, marrying him in 1961. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary this past June. She spent the early years of marriage devoting her time to raising her twin boys, Jerry and Terry and her daughter Robin. When Robin was 12, she returned to work and spent the next 23 years employed by LBUSD until her retirement at the age of 62. Her retirement years were spent traveling to see family, and spending time with her greatest joy in life, her 5 grandchildren. She was blessed to live so close to each of them and was a constant and loving presence in all of their lives. She said she had the best of both worlds - she could see her grandkids every day and then send them home at night. She is survived by her beloved husband Max, her sister Pamela Myers, her sister Kathi Fisher and husband Dick, her brother Robert Wunder and wife Kathy, and her brother in law Dale Dean (sister Debi Dean preceded her in death in 2016); her children, Jerry Johnson and husband Jason Frank, Terry Johnson and wife Jill, Robin Reeves and husband James; her adored grandchildren - Michelle and Rebecca Johnson, and Rachel, Nicole and Samuel Reeves.
