Donald Lee Carey

Donald Lee Carey, age 84, from Long Beach, California, went to be with The Lord on the morning of May 29, 2019 in Camarillo, California. Don was born on August 14, 1934 to George Arthur Carey and Leah Belle (Carter) Carey. He grew up in Ohio, later moved to California and married Nancy Lea Beamon on July 25, 1960 at First Brethren Church at Fifth and Cherry in Long Beach, California. Don served in the army and was stationed in Germany in 1957. He later graduated from California State University, completed his MA in Industrial Arts and worked for Long Beach Unified School District as a teacher at Bancroft, Hughes and Franklin Jr. High Schools. Don was known for his love of music and languages, his mechanical and structural expertise and his dry and witty sense of humor. He loved his family and friends, loved traveling and made a habit of showing interest in other people's lives. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Leah Carey and his wife Nancy Carey. He is survived by his daughter and Son in Law, Christine and Malcolm Oscarson and their children, Michael, Kyle, and Evan, his daughter and Son in Law, Carol and Matt Fellers, and their children, Rachel and Sarah, his 6 brothers and sisters and their families. Services will be held at 10:00 am on June 8, 2019 at Bellflower Brethren Church, 9405 Flower St., Bellflower, Ca. 90706. We will miss you Daddy.
